Error: 'Orchestrate cannot validate your network licence. Feature not found'

Steps to resolve licence validation errors when launching Orchestrate with a network licence.

Written by Charnjit Singh Dharival

This error appears when Orchestrate cannot access your network licence server. You'll see one of these messages:

  • Orchestrate has some problem to access the specified licence server. The detailed information is as below: Feature not found.

  • Orchestrate cannot validate your network licence. The detailed information is as below: Feature not found.

Configure network licence settings

If you're using a network licence, configure Orchestrate to connect to your licence server:

  1. Launch Orchestrate and close the logon form.

  2. Click Help, then click Licence Manager.

  3. Select the Use Network Licence checkbox.

  4. Enter your server name in the field.

  5. Click OK.

  6. Click File, then click Logon form.

  7. Select Browse For More from the server dropdown list.

  8. Click the Network servers tab.

  9. Select the relevant server (this normally ends with \ORCHESTRATE).

  10. The database name displays in the database field.

  11. Enter your credentials to log in.

Start the licence server service

If your licence hasn't expired, the LM-X License Server service may need starting:

  1. Type Services.msc in the Windows server search bar and press Enter.

  2. Select the LM-X License Server 4.7.5 service.

  3. Click Start.

You can now launch Orchestrate.

Check licence availability

If the LM-X Licence Server service is already running, check whether all user licences are in use:

  1. Type LMXCONFIGTOOL in the Windows search bar and press Enter.

  2. Click the resulting icon to launch the LMX Config Tool.

  3. Click the Query Licence Server tab.

  4. Enter localhost in the Host field.

  5. Click Perform to view licence usage.

If all licences are in use, a user must close their session to free a licence for another user.

Request a new licence file

If the steps above don't resolve the issue, check the LMX error log:

  1. Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\X-Formation\LM-X End-user Tools 4.7.5.

  2. Open lmx-serv.log.

  3. Look for the error message 'WARNING: no more licences to serve' towards the bottom of the log file.

This error indicates your Orchestrate licence has an incorrect server IP address. This typically occurs after a server migration or when your IT department changes the SQL server IP address.

To request a new licence file:

  1. Type lmxconfigtool in the Windows search bar and press Enter.

  2. The application opens on the HostID tab.

  3. Click Save To File.

  4. Raise a case with Support via the Access Community Portal and attach the host ID file.

Note: If the lmx-serv.log file shows 'Orchestrate FAIL: feature expired', your licence has expired. Contact the Despatch Department for a renewal licence.
