Steps involved in applying the licence

Please complete the following steps if youe server is on premise:

  1. Download the .orcLic file onto your server from the email received by our Despatch Dept.

  2. Navigate to the X-Formation folder e.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\X-Formation\LM-X End-user Tools 4.7.5 (if the licence file is saved in multiple locations, use the lmx-serv.log file to determine which location the licence is read from)

  3. Drag and drop the new licence into this location.

  4. Open the lmx-serv.cfg file with Notepad ++ and run this application as administrator. If you don't, you may not be able to edit this config file and receive the error: The file cannot be saved and may be protected.

  5. Amend the line where the licence file location is specified e.g. :\Program Files (x86)\X-Formation\LM-X End-user Tools 4.5.5\9867-Network-20140529_0908.orcLic

  6. Enter services into the Windows Search Bar and press enter.

  7. Restart the LM-X licence server 4.7.5 service.

  8. Enter lmxconfigtool in the Windows Search Bar.

  9. Press Enter on your keyboard to launch the LMX config tool.

  10. Select the Query Licence Server tab.

  11. Enter localhost in the Host field. The Port field already has 6200 entered in as default and does not need amending.

  12. Click Perform. The bottom of the dialog box will describe the licence details e.g. virtual licence.


If you use a Access Cloud account to launch Orchestrate from our hosted servers, we will apply these steps on your behalf.


If you download the licence renewal files from the case, please unblock them via the following steps before applying the licence:

  1. Right-click downloaded file

  2. Select Properties

  3. tick unblock from Security section ( next to the message: the file came from another computer and might be blocked to help protect the computer).
