The task that shows the component shortage information has a component availability status of insufficient planned. For instance, double-click the relevant task and on the left-hand pane, the edit tasks window displays component availability: insufficient planned. Task overview do not display any data in the Component Shortages (Order) because there is a date specified when the components will be available to fulfil the order.
If you click material dependencies button on the bottom left hand corner of the Gantt Chart and then type the works order in the order planner (left hand pane), you get a graphical breakdown of how the Purchase Order (PO) is linked to the Works Order (WO) and how the Sales Order (SO) is linked to the WO.
If you double-click a task with the relevant component, select the prod/Usage tab from the left hand pane (Edit Tasks window), you will see the stock value is 0 and the stock usage value is zero. The planned value contains a higher figure and this Task KPI show a shortage. Click on material dependencies and you will see the broken pegging links to other works orders.
