Orchestrate: Quantity Required or Qty To Add columns when they should be zero value

Written by Charnjit Singh Dharival

Planned Quantity column is the total of three rows for the same part on the weekly demand, but the part has figures for Qty required and Qty To Add columns in demand planner when they should be a zero value.

Planned 1000 of stock A. Also planned 1000 of Stock B. Stock B should require Stock A as part of the BOM.
In demand planner, Stock B shows as planned but Stock A does not. The "Qty Planned is showing 0, and there is demand now active for Stock A.
In Order Planner, both products show as planned correctly, however the finished product is not selecting stock B as a component.

Check material dependencies graph for the stock demand and see a task that is using components with unplanned quantities and requires component availability. These components are causing figures to be generated for Qty required and Qty To Add:

  1. Select demand planner from the left hand pane

  2. Type the relevant part and click search

  3. Highlight the row and click Material Dependencies from bottom left of the Gantt Chart

  4. Observe where the stock levels go below zero and match the value in the Qty Required and Qty To Add columns

  5. Scroll to the works order directly under the stock level line graph and zoom in

  6. Click the relevant task

  7. Click Edit Tasks from the left hand pane

  8. Select prod/usage tab

  9. See a list of components with a unplanned value matching the figure in the Qty Required and Qty To Add columns of the demand planner grid

Also, check if any stock demand is using a new process. If it is, compare the new process with the existing process for simlar parts. You will find missing fields not filled in e.g. when you edit a process and select the Ops Costs and Outcomes tab of process details, .Item production needed to be filled in against op step 20. Once the new process has been updated, delete the tasks against the works order using the demand and replan the works order. The demand quantity now displays the correct values.

  1. Select planning

  2. Processes

  3. type in relevant process and click search

  4. click edit

  5. select process details

  6. select Ops Costs and Outcomes

  7. .BOM Usage is filled in but need to complete .item Production (Cost / Outcome)

  8. Click OK
