How to use options Search for unpegged items and Check downstream planned usage

Written by Charnjit Singh Dharival

When clicking the button (blue border inside a square with 6 multiple coloured dots), from the order planner on the left hand pane, I do not understand what happens when I tick Search for unpegged items or Check downstream planned usage.

Search for unpegged items

Ensures that works order plans after any material requirements are planned.
If this is unticked the works order is planned as soon as possible, ignoring material dependencies, such as purchase orders.
Normally ticked when planning works orders after the components have been planned.
Normally unticked when planning works orders as soon as possible, with the intention to backwards plan the components afterwards.

In Orchestrate version 7.66 or above, this option has moved menus and been enhanced in the following way:-

  1. Select Tools

  2. options

  3. planning (tab)

  4. sub-heading 'Search For Unpegged Material' now has two options that can be ticked:-

  5. check availability of made items when planning

  6. check availability of purchased items when planning

Check downstream planned usage

  1. Select Tools

  2. options

  3. planning (tab)

  4. sub-heading 'Other Planning Options' contains option that can be ticked:-

  5. Check Downstream Planned Usages when planning backwards

This option is only available in backwards planning. It checks that the works order is planned in time to feed another works order/sales order that requires it.

Note: the above options appear from the order planner, on the multi-coloured button next to New, from the left-hand pane, when using Orchestrate version 7.65 or below.
