Lots of works orders moved years ahead on the Gantt Chart

Written by Charnjit Singh Dharival

Works order are planning up to 1000 days late; on the plan.

Check any resources that have the column Shift Editing Method set to On/Off, because these resources should have shifts assigned to them and tasks planned. If any resources have no shifts assigned to them and there are works orders or tasks planned on them, and the shift editing method is set to none, this will cause the works orders to plan years ahead. Please complete the following steps to prevent this issue:

  1. Log into Orchestrate and open the plan

  2. Select resources and resources again

  3. select the relevant resource and click Edit

  4. Select cell under column heading Shift Editing Method and select On/Off.

Then, you have to add shift patterns to this resource via the following steps:

  1. Select resources

  2. Default Shift Pattern Assignment

  3. find relevant resource in the list and tick the relevant days e.g. week 1 day 1 Monday

Below are alternative causes and solutions:

  1. Try unticking Search For Unpegged Material from the order planner, which may plan the works orders in the right place.

  2. Manual tasks are created on the plan with no resources and are assigned to tasks that have been imported.

  3. The purchase order due date (for the raw material to be due in stock) may be months ahead of when the works order is due. The purchase order is peg linked to a component assigned to a works order, so both the purchase order and works order will plan to the same date. Please select the relevant works order on the Gantt Chart and click material dependencies to see this pegging link between the orders.
