Error: 'Collision occurred on template steps'

Written by Charnjit Singh Dharival

When adding works orders to the plan, the following error occurs:

Order Code ABC123456
Collision occurred on template steps
process 0 opstep 10
process 0 opstep 20

Solution 1

Check the task dependencies type relationships from process details via the following steps:

  1. Select Planning

  2. Select Processes

  3. select relevant process (Click edit for Works Order specified in error message and look for the process) and click Edit

  4. Select Process Details tab

  5. Select Op Dependencies tab

  6. Select relevant op step has specified in error message and check relationship in Type column e.g. Finish- Finish may need to be Start - Start or Finish- Start.

Solution 2

Another cause is the single capacity resource has a Finish - Finish relationship with 0 min and max offset, hence, requires two operations finishing at the same time. A single capacity resource means it doesn't allow parallel running. Remove the Max Offset value from the relevant operation, from the Op Dependencies table within Process Details to resolve the collision error.

Solution 3

If the error occurs after importing the works orders from FactoryMaster to Orchestrate, the issue lies with the Maximum Offset from the travel time on the route. Please complete the following steps to resolve this issue:

  1. From FactoryMaster, select production

  2. Select manufacturing route maintenance

  3. Enter relevant route number (when you zoom into the works order the route number is displayed) in the namesake field.

  4. Press F5 to zoom into the route

  5. select relevant operation (as displayed on the collision error in Orchestrate)

  6. select the chevron arrow under column Travel

  7. untick Maximum Offset

  8. Repeat steps 5 to 7 for any other operations that are displayed on the collision error in Orchestrate

  9. Then, from Orchestrate, delete the relevant works order from the plan

  10. save the plan

  11. run the data import

  12. Add the works order to the plan (from the order planner) and no collision error will generate.
