The link between setup times of tasks is inaccurate because plans at the start of the work time instead

Written by Charnjit Singh Dharival

After a data import and adding the works order to the plan, the setup time for operation time 20 is starting when setup time for op step 10 has not finished.

If you have 2, 3 or more Ops on the same machine you cannot use travel time to as a means to move setup start time. This method would add travel time between these Ops and then extend the completion time so it would not be reflective of what actually happens. Also as setup time varies for each job you cannot set a standard travel time in FM resource manager so you would manually have to change each Ops travel time on each job to compensate which is a lot of work.

It is standard functionality in Orchestrate to link tasks to the start of the work time and not to the setup time. The offset method (travel time field within routing operations in FactoryMaster) of linking tasks to the setup time is a work around.

The standard integration will link to start of work time and not the setup time, except when using min offset or max offset values.

There is a plugin available which enhances this functionality. If you would like this plugin, please raise a new case online and reference the title of this article.
