Error: 'Order Code: XXX No steps found in the process default' when trying to add order to the plan

Written by Charnjit Singh Dharival

Opened a saved plan copy and the target stock level for a part is zero, from the demand planner. On the current plan, it has a positive figure. When trying to add a works order to the plan, the following error message generates:

'Order Code: 3434/01 No steps found in the process default'

When you try and plan an order in a copied plan (Saved Plans folder for what if scenarios, within plan explorer), you will get this error message because there aren’t any Tasks assigned to that Order on that Plan and it will then try to plan that Order from the Process assigned to it (Default process in this case – which doesn’t have any steps associated with it).

This is standard Orchestrate functionality and working as designed.

The works order on the ERP system must contain the relevant routing so that when it is imported to Orchestrate, the routing is converted to a process and then the order can be added to the plan.

Once the routing has been added to the order in the ERP system, delete the order from Orchestrate and then import the order again.

This is happening because Tasks are objects that are plan specific, while Orders and Items are global.

When an import is run, things are getting copied into the Current Plan (it doesn’t matter where the import is being run from, the current plan or a different plan, even no plans opened).

So the Items and Orders are going to be visible in all the plans that you have, while the Tasks will only be visible in the Current Plan.
