Error: 'No Feasible Result' when trying to plan works orders

Written by Charnjit Singh Dharival

Cannot plan some works orders due to the following error message:-

Order Code: 12345

No Feasible Result. ResourceGroup: Res1 Process: Proc1 Op:10
All resources in the resource group have been reserved by other steps in the process. Verify that the chain of same resource dependencies on resource group Res1 is correct. Falling that, you may need to add more resources into ResourceGroup: Res1 or remove one or more resources that are included in ResourceGroup: res1 from other resource groups.

Solution

The functionality has been enhanced in Orchestrate version 7.80. Please upgrade to this version or above. The same-resource process/task links could be created for the Start - Start / Finish - Finish / Part Transfer types, which is invalid for planning. These invalid process/task dependencies could be created using the Processes form, data import and the task dependencies form. The enhancement prevents such incidents from happening (i.e. ensure Same Resource link checkbox is unticked if the dependency Type isn't Finish - Start).

Workaround

If you are not in a position to upgrade yet or waiting to upgrade, in the meantime, action the following workarounds:

1. Change the Add To Plan Date from the Order Planner to a future date and then the works orders should plan

2. Add task dependencies that will help Orchestrate plan these orders better. For example, add a basic Finish-Start dependency between tasks op steps 2180 and 2270, which will indicate that the tasks need to be planned in the following sequence. Orchestrate needs these hints in order to decide on what the planning sequence should be. Temporary adding additional resources onto a resource group could help to find out how to create these hints.
