Here's the SFDC article rewritten in that format:
Description
For help if you are unable to click on tasks, start operations, or submit comments in SFDC and the interface appears read-only.
Overview
After signing in to SFDC, the user is unable to perform any actions. Tasks and operations are not clickable, "Ready to Start" tasks cannot be initiated, comments cannot be submitted, and no start/stop functionality is available. This can affect one or more users at the same time, even if their access appears correct elsewhere. This article can provide you with what to do next.
What is causing this issue to occur?
The affected user(s) have been assigned the Viewer role in SFDC. The Viewer role is a built-in, read-only role that does not grant any operational permissions. Users with this role can see the interface but cannot interact with tasks, operations, or comments.
Users without an explicitly assigned role will also automatically default to Viewer (read-only).
Please action the following:
Check the affected user's assigned role in SFDC Settings > Permissions.
Change their role from Viewer to Operator (or another appropriate role).
Ask the user to log out and log back in for the change to take effect.
When setting up new SFDC users, ensure their role is set to Operator (not Viewer) unless read-only access is specifically intended.
Built-in roles for reference:
Role | Access Level |
Admin | Full access to all features and settings |
Operator | Standard working access — can start/stop operations, comment, view details |
Viewer | Read-only — can view the interface but cannot interact with anything |
