Error: 'RemoteApp disconnected this computer can't connect to the remote computer'

Steps you can take to resolve the RemoteApp disconnected error when launching Orchestrate from a Cloud shortcut.

Written by Arthur Ashdown

You may see this error when trying to launch Orchestrate via a RemoteApp shortcut. There are a few common causes, and the steps below will help you identify and resolve the issue.

📌Note: If none of the solutions below resolve the issue, support will raise a ticket with Cloud Engineering on your behalf.

Solution 1: Check firewall and VPN settings

This solution applies if the error occurs when connecting to a remote server, or when launching the Cloud login page.

  1. If the error relates to a remote server connection, contact your third-party IT team to check your firewall settings. Orchestrate data mappings may need to be unblocked.

  2. If the error occurs when launching the Cloud login page from a PC client, ask your IT team to add the URL used to launch the page to the VPN domain allowlist.

  3. Alternatively, disconnect from VPN and connect to the Cloud web page using Wi-Fi instead.

  4. If the issue persists, refer to the Microsoft remote desktop troubleshooting article for further guidance.

Solution 2: Remove saved RDP credentials

Corrupted or outdated credentials stored on your device can prevent a successful RemoteApp connection. Follow these steps to remove them.

  1. Go to the Start menu and open Control Panel.

  2. Navigate to Credential Manager, then click Windows Credentials.

  3. From the list, locate and remove the credentials associated with RDP.

  4. Launch Remote Desktop Connection again and check whether you can now connect to Orchestrate.

Solution 3: Raise a case with support

If the issue continues after trying the steps above, our support team will escalate to Cloud Engineering.

  1. Raise a new case online.

  2. Reference the title of this article in your case so the team can identify the issue quickly.
