Error: 'ExecuteScalar or ExecuteReader requires an open and available connection. The connection's current state is closed'

Steps you can take to resolve the connection state error that occurs when opening the plan or running a data import in Orchestrate.

You may see one of the following error messages when trying to open the plan or run a data import:

An unexpected error occurred. Please report this problem to your system administrator with the following information: System.InvalidOperationException: ExecuteScalar requires an open and available connection. The connection's current state is closed.

or

An unexpected error occurred. Please report this problem to your system administrator with the following information: System.InvalidOperationException: ExecuteReader requires an open and available connection. The connection's current state is closed.

or

Orchestrate data flow has failed. The detailed information is as follows: WriteToServer requires an open and available connection. The connection's state is closed.

Resolution

This issue has been resolved in Orchestrate version 7.78 hotfix 20. Upgrade to this version or above to resolve the error.
