Error: 'Software Expired'

Steps you can take to resolve the 'Software expired' licence error when connecting to Orchestrate.

Written by Arthur Ashdown

You may see this error when connecting to Orchestrate if your licence has expired or if the licence server cannot be reached. Work through the solutions below in order.

Solution 1: Renew and apply the Orchestrate licence

To resolve this, request and apply a new Orchestrate renewal licence.

  1. Request a new Orchestrate renewal licence, following the network licence section of the renewal article.

  2. Apply the new licence.

Solution 2: Check firewall settings and licence server name

If the issue continues after renewing the licence, the LMX licence software and file may be on a different server to where Orchestrate is installed, and the two servers may not be able to communicate due to firewall restrictions.

  1. Ask your IT team to add an inbound rule to the Windows Firewall to open TCP port 6200.

  2. Once done, check that the correct licence server name is set when launching Orchestrate:

    1. Select Help, then click Licence Manager.

    2. In the Use Network Licence field, enter the correct server name.

    3. Click OK.
