We're excited to introduce our release notes for version 7.78.
User Story 1532554: Order Planner - Build view for Order.
Within the Order Planner menu against a planned works order by right mouse clicking an option appears in the menu "Build view for Order", the user has the option to build the view using the "Keep existing resources in view" or to "Clear existing resources in view".
Keep existing resources will show the same resources on the Gantt chart that were already present and add any further resources that are used.
Clear existing resources will remove the resources that were previously displayed and reloading with just the resources against the works order.
The build view for order option only appears for Planned tasks ONLY.
User Story 280937: Enhance Orchestrate Copy Live to Play.
We now have a service for Orchestrate that runs on the SQL server - Orchestrate Service Agent. This is an optional addition that currently enhances Copy Live to Play, however there will likely be further improvements to the service in later editions.
This service simplifies the process of allowing users to run Copy Live to Play by not requiring a particular user to have the additional SQL permissions required to run Copy Live to Play. Any admin user can make a request for Copy Live to Play and the service will execute it automatically for the user.
Only one user can execute Copy Live to Play at a time through this new system, and all active users are informed when a request is made and Copy Live to Play is being executed.
The existing method for Copy Live to Play is enabled by default if the service has not been installed, so customers who do not wish to use the new service can continue with their existing setup.
Customers can request the service installation through support, no downtime is required for the installation and active Orchestrate sessions will automatically switch over to the new Copy Live to Play system once the service is running.
The service will only work for Orchestrate versions 7.78 and above.
User Story 591442: Move to position in Work List/Agenda View.
A new feature has been added to the Work List/ Agenda View that will allow users to move selected tasks to a desired position. This new feature will only be available if the "UpDownArrows" system setting is enabled and is intended to be used for a view that has tasks on a single resource, where the tasks have no dependencies.
While the "UpDownArrows" system setting is enabled, if a user switches to the Work List/ Agenda View, they will notice a new tickbox, named "Show Position", that is unticked by default. When this tickbox is ticked, users will see a new column named "Position", that displays the position of tasks within the Work List/ Agenda View, along with the sequence order in which tasks are selected, in brackets:
If a user has the "Show Position" tickbox ticked, has the "Show Completed" tickbox ticked, has no filters on columns in the Work List/ Agenda View and has no sorting enabled on columns in the Work List/ Agenda View, they will see the following:
1. A new button in the top menu strip, named "Move to Position ..."
2. A new item when right-clicking a task, named "Move to Position ..."
To use the feature when a single task is selected, users can use the right-click option, the button or use Ctrl + m and when multiple tasks are selected, users can use the button or Ctrl + m.
An example of the feature in action is shown below:
1. If a user wanted to move the tasks at position 5 (Task 11), 6 (Task 14) and 7 (Task 12), to position 2 (Task 8), but wanted Task 14 to appear first, then Task 12 and finally Task 11, they would first select the tasks in that order:
b. Note that the number in brackets next to the position shows the sequence order in which the tasks will be moved
2. They would then click on the "Move to Position ..." button, and then enter a value of 2, in the window that opens:
a.
3. The tasks will then be moved to start at position 2:
a.
Important notes
1. The feature is only intended for use with tasks on a single resource, where the tasks have no dependencies. The best approach for using this feature will be to create a view which has a single resource selected.
2. The feature is only available when a user has the "Show Position" tickbox ticked, has the "Show Completed" tickbox ticked, has no filters on columns in the Work List/ Agenda View and has no sorting enabled on columns in the Work List/ Agenda View.
3. The feature, if available, will not be usable if "Allow Overloads" is enabled or the resource has "Allow Task Overlaps" enabled.
4. Certain tasks may need to be moved for this feature to work and if they locked or completed, the feature will not work. Users will be informed of this.
5. There may be scenarios where moving tasks to a certain position is not possible. In this case, tasks will be moved as close to that position as possible.
