Written by Charnjit Singh Dharival

Citrix is asking to run a file when launching.

When clicking the Access button to launch Orchestrate, Citrix is not opening and is asking to run an .ica file. The error is:

Windows can't open this type of file .ica

Please ensure you are on the latest version of Citrix installed on your laptop. Your IT department can check this for you.

To resolve this error, you will receive a message 'Always Open Files of This Type' tick the box to allow this application to open.

If you don't have the option to tick 'Always Open Files of This Type', Clearing the Cache from All Time will give you the option to tick this box.

Users Prompted to Download, Run, Open ".ica" File Instead of Launching Connection

If the issue continues to occur, look at the console log files. You will see that the internet network speed was having issues when loading different resources. This explains why the issue is intermittent and why it cannot be easily replicated. Ask your IT to revise there internet connection/routers. The internet speed could also be influenced if they use wireless and it might be away from the router or if that router if overutilized, but it can also happen if their computer is having an internet connection via RJ45 cable LAN connection and that connection is congested.

Also, the affected user's IP address may be completely different to other users who are within Access Cloud Engineering's scope of IP addresses. Your VPN needs amending or a proxy setup.
