There are several reasons why tasks may not be draggable to the correct date on the Gantt chart. Work through the solutions below to identify and resolve the cause.
Solution 1: Task is locked
The task may be locked, which prevents it from being dragged. To check and unlock the task:
Double-click the relevant task on the Gantt chart.
In the Edit Tasks window on the left-hand pane, check whether the Locked checkbox is ticked.
If it is ticked, select the checkbox to clear it.
Click Apply.
đNote: Predecessor or Successor tasks may also need unlocking before the relevant task can be dragged. Right-click the task and select Edit Task Dependencies to find any Predecessor or Successor tasks.
Solution 2: Replan the works orders
If the task is not locked, replanning the works orders will reset the tasks to the correct date on the Gantt chart:
Select the order planner.
Select the relevant works orders.
Right-click and select Delete, then select Delete All Tasks for Order(s).
Select the same works orders from the order planner, then click Add to Plan.
The tasks will now plan to the correct date on the Gantt chart.
Solution 3: Check the works order routing
Check that the works order being imported has the correct routing to plan the tasks. Incorrect routing can prevent tasks from being placed on the correct date.
Solution 4: Allow task overlaps on the resource
If the task still cannot be dragged, enabling task overlaps on the relevant resource may resolve the issue. For a machine resource, complete the following steps:
Select Resources, then select Resources again.
Select the relevant resource, then click Edit.
Tick Allow Task Overlaps.
Click OK.
Solution 5: A secondary resource is at full capacity
If the task has multiple resources assigned to it, one of those resources may be at full capacity. A resource at full capacity will not accept any further tasks, which prevents the task from being dragged to the required position.
Check the capacity of all resources assigned to the task and free up capacity on any that are full.
