For help inserting regular maintenance tasks

Written by Emma

To add a regular maintenance task to Orchestrate it will help if, firstly, a Task type is set up, but this is not strictly necessary

  1. Go to Planning > Task Types

  2. Click on Edit

  3. Click on New Row

  4. In the Code section, put a relevant code, such as MAINT

  5. In the description, put a useful way of describing the task, such as Regular maintenance

  6. Give it a specific fill colour, if required.

How to add a task to the plan

To add a task to the plan, follow the steps below:

  1. Right-click on the Gantt chart where you want it to be

  2. Choose Insert Task.

  3. Add the details by double-clicking on the task

  4. In the Schedule tab, set the relevant times for the task, such as the Work Duration and the specific Start time, to make it the exact time required.

  5. In the Detail section, the Task Type can be chosen from the dropdown, and any that you have created before will be available to choose from.

  6. To make it a regularly repeating task, right-click on the task

  7. Choose Duplicate Selected Tasks… and in there choose Offset Date / Time.

  8. It is then possible to set the No. of Copies and the Offset which can be used to change the time to be every 'Hour', 'Day', 'Week', 'Month', 'Quarter' or 'Year' or any quantity of these, such as every 2 weeks, every 4 months or every quarter.

That will put the task at those points in the future.
